How Dogs Attract Solano Insects

How Dog Attracts Solano Insects:
Consider natural ingredient-based sprays, lotions, shampoos. This is in addition to the drops you place monthly between their shoulder blades for the pests Solano County has including: fleas, ticks (carrying lyme disease), mosquitoes (West Nile disease), etc.

• They pick up ticks and poison oak walking through wild grassy areas of Solano. Solano poison oak on dog fur transfers to humans too.

Additional options:
• Gentle flea shampoos to help rid fleas. Avoid shampoos with insecticides, since the chemicals can be harsh. If your dog has fleas, use a gentle shampoo containing pyrethrin (but is this bad for humans?), pyrethrum or citrus oil. Make sure your dog isn’t allergic to the scents. Realize they may smell 10,000 times better than you – put the bottle by their nose first.
• Bathing: apple cider vinegar to rinse Fidos’ fur. Fleas don't like the smell or taste.
• Lavender, peppermint and geranium essential oils repel mosquitoes. Lavender, lemongrass and geranium repel ticks. And lavender, lemongrass, peppermint and citronella repel fleas. Dab oils between the dog's shoulder blades. Also lemon, cedar, eucalyptus, myrrh, neem and rosewood
• Put a drop of say lemon oil, rosemary oil on Fido’s collar.
